Ventilation device for installation between a window and a facade opening, as well as fixing thereof
The invention relates to a ventilation device for installation between a frame and a boundary of a facade opening in which said frame is located, which device comprises a housing with an inside and an outside between which a ventilation passage extends, which housing is made up of longitudinal profiles and these longitudinal profiles interconnecting coupling members extending from the top to the bottom of the housing, as well as a fastening arrangement for mounting fastening means, such as a screw or nail, through the housing in connection with the fastening of the housing to the frame.
Such a ventilation device, which is also referred to as a top fan, is known from Dutch patent specification 1,024,953. The top fan is located between the upper boundary of the facade opening and the upper horizontal frame part. Given this position, the top fan plays an important role in the transmission of forces between the frame and the facade. On the frame and the panel located therein, in particular a glass panel, forces are exerted which are mainly associated with pressure differences, for example due to wind and the like. The vertical and horizontal frame parts of the frame must therefore be firmly attached to the facade.
However, the top fan is located between the upper horizontal frame part and the facade, which means that the loads must be transferred there via the top fan. This means that the top fan must be securely attached both to the upper boundary of the facade opening and to the upper horizontal frame part. For the latter fastening, screws or nails are often arranged through the housing of the ventilation device. For this purpose, holes are drilled in the upper and lower profiles that define the housing, after which the screw is screwed in or the nail is hit. ^
Although a good fastening between the ventilation device and the frame is obtained in this way, there are still disadvantages to this way of fastening. This is because there is a danger that the fastener will be driven into the frame so deep that the profiles of the housing are overloaded. These profiles, which usually consist of aluminum or plastic, extend transversely with respect to the fastening means and can therefore offer little resistance to compressive forces.
In practice this leads to the profiles being pressed. This is very undesirable because the strength of the ventilation device is thereby adversely affected and the internal parts, such as any valve present, are damaged. The operation of the valve can also be disrupted as a result.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a ventilation device of the type described above that can be attached to the frame in a reliable and safe manner. This object is achieved in that the fastening provision, such as a sleeve or channel in which the screw or nail can be received, cooperates with at least one of the coupling members.
The coupling members of the ventilation device, because of their function, that is to say interconnecting the different longitudinal profiles of the housing, have a considerable rigidity, in particular a considerable strength and rigidity, such that they are resistant to compression. By having the fastening device cooperate with such a coupling member, sufficient resistance can be offered to the compressive forces exerted on the housing by a fastening means such as a screw or nail when it is driven into the frame. As a result, the further driving of the fastening means as soon as its head has arrived on the top of the housing is prevented, whereby the disadvantageous depression of the housing is prevented. The housing of the ventilation device thereby remains in its desired shape, whereby the ventilation function and also the operation of the valve are not disturbed.
The insight that the fastening device must be associated with a coupling member can be implemented in many different ways in practice. In particular, the fastening provision may comprise at least one passage or channel connected to the coupling member for the fastening means. Such a passage or channel can be designed in many different ways. It is not necessary for the passage on the channel to be closed all around, as long as the condition that these elements provide adequate support for the fastener is met. Consider, for example, a channel in which a longitudinal gap occurs, the width of which, however, is smaller than the thickness of, for example, the stem of a screw or nail. However, a full-walled channel is preferably used: such an embodiment offers good resistance to the pressing forces of the fastening means.
The passage or the channel can for instance be designed in the form of a holder through which the fastening means can be inserted. in that holder the fastening means can be received, such that the head remains on the top of the housing because the dimensions thereof are larger than those of the internal space in the holder.
The holder can for instance be designed integrally with the coupling member and can extend over the entire height of the coupling member, i.e. from the top to the bottom of the housing, but this is not necessary.
Furthermore, the holder can be a single continuously extending element, but also the variant is possible in which the holder comprises two holder parts that are spaced apart from each other, through which of the holder parts the fastening means can be inserted. These holder parts can be located near the top and bottom of the housing, respectively. In that case it is also possible to design the coupling member with at least two coupling member parts, such that two of said coupling member parts are provided with a holder part. In a practical embodiment, the holder can be pipe or sleeve-shaped. According to a preferred embodiment, the coupling member is of double-walled design, and the holder extends between both walls of the coupling member. In that case, the fixing of the ventilation device to the frame can be made invisibly.
It is furthermore important that the ventilation device can be attached to the frame in an efficient and simple manner. This requires that the position to which the screw or nail is to be applied is clearly indicated. This can be obtained in various ways. According to a first variant, the upper side of the housing can for this purpose be at least partially transparent; if the fastening device is located under the transparent part of the housing, the screw or nail can easily be fitted in the right place. According to an alternative embodiment, the housing may comprise a mark which coincides with the position of the mounting device. Such an embodiment is suitable if the profiles comprising the housing are made of aluminum and are therefore not transparent. The top of the housing can also comprise a passage, such as a pre-drilled hole, which coincides with the position of the fixing provision.
The invention further relates to a frame construction, comprising a ventilation device as described above as well as a frame, such as for a window or door, which is made up of two vertical frame parts and two horizontal frame parts connecting said vertical frame parts, the ventilation device being on a horizontal frame part is attached by a fastening means which extends through the fastening provision of at least one coupling member.
Finally, the invention relates to a facade construction, comprising a facade with a facade opening, a frame located in said facade opening, such as for a window or door, which is made up of two vertical frame parts and two horizontal frame parts connecting said vertical frame parts, as well as a ventilation device as described above, which ventilation device is attached on the one hand to a boundary of the facade opening and on the other hand to a horizontal frame part by a fastening means which extends through the fastening provision of at least one coupling member.
The ventilation device according to the invention can consist of all kinds of different materials; previously discussed the variant in which aluminum forms the material for the housing. It is also possible to design the housing entirely or partially in plastic, whereby a transparent plastic can then be used for the top side. A wooden version is also possible. As already mentioned, the house consists of longitudinal profiles. In the variant in which aluminum is used, these longitudinal profiles are usually extruded profiles. The valve, if present, can also consist of aluminum. This valve has rubber sealing edges in the usual manner; the operating device for opening or closing the valve is known per se and can also be used with the ventilation device according to the invention.
The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown in the figures.
Figure 1 shows a section through a facade construction with a ventilation device according to the invention.
Figure 2 shows the ventilation device with frame part in section on a larger scale.
Figure 3 shows a section through the ventilation device according to III-III of Figure 2.
The ventilation device 1 according to the invention is located in a facade 2 consisting of the outer cavity leaf 3 and the inner cavity leaf 4 which enclose a cavity 5. Insulation material 6 is attached to the inner cavity leaf 4. In a known manner, which is not further shown in detail, the inner cavity leaf 4 is supported by the support profile 7 which supports the part of the outer cavity leaf 3 above the facade opening 14. The ventilation device 1 is fixed at the level of the facade opening 14 on the one hand to the inner cavity leaf 4, and on the other hand to the frame 8 in which a glass panel 9 is rotatably accommodated.
The ventilation device 1 is secured to the inner cavity leaf 4 via the mounting plate 10 and the screws 11. The ventilation device 1 is fixed to the frame 8 by means of the screws 12, in particular to the upper horizontal frame part 13 thereof. This latter confirmation will be further described with reference to Figures 2 and 3.
As shown in figures 2 and 3, the ventilation device 1 has a housing 15 which is built up from the upper profile 16, the lower profile 17 to which the fixing plate 10 can be fixed, the upper outer profile 18, the lower outer profile 19, the upper inner profile 20, the lower inner profile 21, and a grid profile 22 attached to the inner profiles 20, 21. There is an opening 23 between the outer profiles 18, 19; the ventilation passage 24 extends between this opening 23 and the grid profile 22. This ventilation passage 24 can be opened and the new one closed by the valve 25.
The profiles 18-21 are not only mutually attached, but are also attached to the coupling member 26 which extends parallel to the ventilation passage 24. Several of these coupling members 26, viewed in the longitudinal direction of the ventilation device 1, extend at a distance beside each other.
The upper profile 16 and the lower profile 17 have holes 27 aligned with respect to each other, in which the screw 12 is received. According to the invention, a fastening device 28 is provided on the coupling member 26 through which the screw 12 extends. In the embodiment shown, this fastening device 28 is in the form of a channel, sleeve or pipe and the like, the inner space 30 of which can have smaller transverse dimensions than the stem of the screw 12. However, this is not absolutely necessary: it is sufficient if the holes 27 in the upper profile 16 have a smaller dimension than the dimension of the head 29 of the screw 12. The fixing device 28 can also be described as a holder, because the fixing means 12 such as the screw shown are accommodated therein. This channel / holder 28 extends from the upper profile 16 to the lower profile 17. As soon as the screw 12 has been screwed so far into the horizontal frame part 13 of the frame 8 that the head 29 comes to lie against the upper profile 16 , traditionally there was a risk that that upper profile 16 was pressed. However, the pressing is now prevented because the upper profile is supported by the channel 28.
Although in the embodiment shown the channel is shown as a continuous whole, it is also possible, for example, to provide a channel part only near the top and bottom of the coupling member 26. These channel parts are then supported relative to each other by the intermediate material of the otherwise sturdy coupling member 26, whereby the desired resistance to pressing in of the upper profile 16 is also prevented.
The upper profile 16 can be transparent, for example made of a transparent plastic, such that the holder 28 is clearly visible in connection with the provision of a hole 27 in the upper profile 16 for the provision of the screw 28. Alternatively, it is possible to such a hole 27 is provided, or (with an opaque upper profile 15) a suitable mark.
